Renewed Hope Ambassadors have inspected key federal and state projects in Kogi State, describing President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies as mutually beneficial and driving infrastructure, education and economic development.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors and members of the Presidential Communications Team have commenced the inspection of major federal and state government projects in Kogi State as part of the ongoing National Media Tour showcasing landmark development initiatives across Nigeria.
The inspection tour began on Sunday with a visit to the Kabba Junction section of the Abuja–Lokoja Expressway, which also serves as the starting point of the Lokoja–Benin Expressway.
Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Barrister Salami Ozigi Dedaat, said the Abuja–Lokoja highway had deteriorated over the years due to neglect by previous administrations but has now been prioritised for completion under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
According to him, the road project has been divided into five sections, with each awarded to a separate contractor to accelerate construction.
Dedaat commended President Tinubu for approving the highway project and other critical infrastructure initiatives across Kogi State.
The delegation also visited the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, where they inspected several projects funded by both the Federal Government and the Kogi State Government.
The university’s Director of Administration, Mohammed Ahmed, disclosed that the Federal Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), funded the construction of the Faculty of Science Complex, Faculty of Environmental Sciences Complex, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences Complex, and the Faculty of Anatomy at a combined cost exceeding ₦2.3 billion.
He added that TETFund also supported the institution through the 2025 Special Intervention (Renewed Hope Initiative), including the construction of a female hostel, maintenance projects, and academic and research interventions.
The delegation further inspected the Barefoot Renewable Energy College and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant, both established by the Federal Government through the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
Leading the delegation, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, described the visible transformation at the university as evidence of the positive impact of President Tinubu’s economic reforms.
According to him, the administration’s policy decisions have increased available resources for states, enabling greater investments in education and infrastructure.
He noted that education occupies a central position in the President’s Eight-Point Agenda, adding that the investments in science and technology would prepare Nigeria for a modern knowledge-based economy.
Dare also commended the continuity of governance in Kogi State, praising former Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Usman Ododo for sustaining development initiatives.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Engagement, Strategy and New Media, Otega Ogra, said the Barefoot Renewable Energy College and Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant would equip young Nigerians with practical skills in renewable energy technologies.
He explained that the institutions would train a skilled workforce capable of installing, operating and maintaining clean energy systems across the country.
Ogra noted that the Barefoot Renewable Energy College is the second of its kind globally after India, while the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant is the second in Africa.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors also inspected projects in Kogi West Senatorial District, including Kogi State University, Kabba, the Mopa Primary Health Centre, completed internal roads in Kabba-Bunu and the Kabba erosion control project implemented under the Agro-Climatic Resilience programme of the Kogi State Government.
Earlier, during a reception held in honour of the delegation, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Olorunfemi Fanwo, said the Kogi Rebrand Initiative of Governor Usman Ododo is aimed at changing perceptions of the state through impactful infrastructure development and people-centred programmes.
