The chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the February 21 Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, Mr. Eze Chukwu, has accepted the outcome of the poll and ruled out any legal challenge against the declared winner.
Chukwu conveyed his position in a congratulatory message to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Christopher Maikalangu, who was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, Chukwu said he would not contest the result “for any reason whatsoever,” stressing that elections are about service rather than personal ambition.
He described the poll as peaceful and orderly, noting that the calm atmosphere during the campaign period and on election day represented “a victory for democracy.”
Although APGA did not secure victory, Chukwu said elections remain a vehicle for service to the people and should not be reduced to personal gain.
The APGA National Youth Leader, who also chairs the Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN), urged aggrieved stakeholders to pursue any grievances strictly through lawful channels.
He pledged support for initiatives that would advance the success of the incoming administration and congratulated Maikalangu on his victory.
Chukwu advised the APC candidate to be magnanimous in triumph by governing with humility, inclusiveness and fairness.
According to him, AMAC belongs to all residents regardless of political, ethnic or religious affiliations, and governance should reflect unity and commitment to the common good.
He thanked his supporters for what he described as a disciplined and principled campaign, emphasising that while elections test ideas, character is revealed through conduct.
Chukwu further called on citizens to remain actively engaged in the democratic process, stressing that national development depends on participation rather than apathy.
He reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment, good governance and community development, noting that service to society extends beyond holding public office.
