An Enugu-based entertainment group, Funky4Gang, has charged upcoming artistes to remain disciplined, focused and humble in their pursuit of success, warning that talent alone cannot sustain a music career.

The Chief Executive Officer of the group, Prince Osifu Osaro, popularly known as DJ Funky, gave the advice during the Funky4Gang Entertainment Concert held on Monday at the Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu.

The event attracted entertainers, influencers, record label executives and music enthusiasts, serving as a platform for discovering and promoting emerging talents across the South-East.

“You must stay humble, disciplined and consistent, as humility can take you to places money cannot,” Osaro said.

He explained that the concert was organised to showcase and empower upcoming artistes in the region, while creating exposure and networking opportunities capable of advancing their careers.

“This concert is about showcasing all the talents in Funky4Gang Entertainment and also upcoming artistes across the South-East. It is a big platform for them to express themselves and be seen,” he said.

Beyond Entertainment

Osaro noted that the programme also featured an educative segment aimed at sensitising Nigerian youths on the dangers of substance abuse and drug misuse.

“It is not just entertainment; it is also an educative programme. We want to advise the youth against drugs and other harmful substances. We believe entertainment can also be a tool for positive change,” he added.

He further stated that several record label executives were present to scout promising artistes, offering potential opportunities for sponsorship and recording deals.

“Many upcoming artistes struggle financially. With top industry players present, lucky talents may secure deals that can change their careers,” he said.

Call For Government Support

Osaro urged government at all levels to strengthen support for emerging artistes by creating more exposure platforms and improving media reach in Enugu State.

“In the past, stations like Cosmo FM helped artistes from Enugu gain national recognition. We need that kind of reach again,” he said.

He described the concert as the first major standalone event organised solely by Funky4Gang, although the group has previously collaborated with leading artistes on large-scale shows.

According to him, the organisation comprises over 70 members, including DJs, hype men, influencers, media personalities and professionals in film production and event management.

The group’s Logistics Manager and Event Coordinator, Donald Ogugua, popularly known as TNG, said the concert featured performances from artistes including Perruzi, Evado, Highstala Visita, Zyno, Hugo P, Aguero Banks and several DJs and entertainers.

Sponsors of the event included the Enugu State Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other corporate organisations.

Thousands of youths, particularly students from tertiary institutions across the South-East, attended the concert, underscoring its growing influence in the region’s entertainment landscape.
