The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nkanu West Local Government Area has continued its campaign for the upcoming council polls, with its chairmanship candidate, Honourable John Chukwuma Ogbodo, and his running mate meeting traditional rulers in the area to seek royal blessings. The event, which held on Friday (yesterday) to fortify their support base, was attended by party stakeholders, supporters, and notable figures in the area. Ogbodo, while addressing the traditional rulers, emphasized that his nomination was a collective decision of the PDP stakeholders, backed by the support of Governor Peter Mbah. “We are here to inform you, the royal fathers, custodians of our people’s tradition and culture, about our intention and to seek your prayers and blessings,” Ogbodo said.
Campaign Director General Onyeka Onwe, speaking at the event, highlighted the strong unity within the PDP in Nkanu West, emphasizing that the party is the only one actively campaigning for the upcoming election. “No other political party in the LGA is campaigning for this election. PDP is not just a party; it’s a movement of unity and progress for our people,” Onwe stated, soliciting the traditional rulers’ support for Ogbodo’s candidacy.

Nkanu West’s PDP chairmanship candidate, Honourable John Ogbodo, pledged to run an inclusive government if elected, promising to follow in the footsteps of Governor Mbah. He outlined his commitment to promoting unity, peace, and development in the council. “I will ensure that my administration, if elected, will focus on inclusivity, unity, and development for the betterment of our people. We will continue the good work Governor Peter Mbah is doing at the State level,” Ogbodo said.
The royal fathers, led by HRH Igwe Amushi Nwodo, expressed their confidence in Ogbodo’s leadership qualities. He is eligible and eminently qualified to lead our local government. I fully support his presentation before the royal fathers,” Igwe Nwodo declared.
