ENUGU, October 3, 2025 – The Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Enugu Diocese chapter, has taken a major step in strengthening Catholic presence in the media space by officially introducing its body to the Director of Social Communications of the Enugu Diocese, Rev. Fr. Anthony Aneke. The introductory meeting, held at the Holy Ghost Cathedral beside Flame Communications, marked a defining moment for the newly formed diocesan chapter.
The session began with an opening prayer led by Fr. Aneke, who also expressed gratitude to God for the gathering. Welcoming the practitioners warmly, he assured them of his commitment and promised to support their efforts, involve them in diocesan communications initiatives, and eventually accompany them to meet with the bishop. His pledge, participants noted, gave the young association a strong sense of encouragement.
Interim chairman of CAMPAN Enugu, Mr. Gregory Odiakosa, explained that the gathering was primarily to present the group’s vision and initial programs to the diocesan director. According to him, the association is “just starting, having received a mandate from our national body during the last conference,” and has since been mobilizing Catholic media professionals working across government-owned, private, and independent outlets, including social media platforms.
Odiakosa disclosed that the Enugu Diocese chapter currently has 17 members, but expressed optimism that more Catholic journalists, broadcasters, and online content creators will soon join. He emphasized that the association intends to serve as a rallying point for Catholic professionals in the media industry, creating synergy and advancing the mission of the Church.
Fr. Aneke commended the initiative, describing it as a bold and timely step that would enrich diocesan communications. He encouraged the practitioners to remain committed to their calling, assuring them that his office would provide guidance, open doors of collaboration, and offer opportunities for them to contribute to various Church programs.

Those present at the gathering included Mrs. Callista Ijeoma Aniude and Mrs. Uchenna Eze, interim secretary. Members in attendance described the meeting as “wonderful,” noting that it not only marked the beginning of a formal relationship with the diocesan communications office but also set the tone for a more organized Catholic media presence in Enugu.
With Fr. Aneke’s assurances, the Enugu Diocese chapter of CAMPAN looks forward to building a vibrant network of Catholic media practitioners, promoting professionalism rooted in faith, and contributing meaningfully to the growth of the Church’s evangelization mission across the diocese and beyond.
