ENUGU, NIGERIA – Managing Director of MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL), Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, has reaffirmed the company’s unwavering commitment to workforce development, describing employees as its most valuable asset and a critical pillar for achieving its strategic objectives in Nigeria’s highly regulated electricity distribution sector.
Dr. Mupwaya made the remarks while receiving a delegation from the Enugu State Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) during a courtesy visit to the company’s headquarters, Power House, Enugu, on Monday.
Welcoming the delegation, he underscored the indispensable role of professional human resource management in building resilient, innovative and high-performing organisations, stressing that people remain the driving force behind sustainable institutional success.
He identified effective leadership, workforce quality, organisational culture and talent development as the key ingredients for success in today’s rapidly evolving business environment. According to him, MainPower remains committed to professionalism, integrity, innovation and customer-centric service delivery as it continues to grow as a modern electricity distribution company.
Dr. Mupwaya noted that competent, motivated and adaptable employees, supported by strong human resource leadership and professional institutions such as CIPM, are essential to organisational transformation and national economic development.
Earlier, Chairman of the CIPM Enugu State Branch, Mr. Francis Uka, accompanied by Governing Council member Mr. Christian Onwumeremadu, said the visit was aimed at strengthening institutional partnerships, encouraging professional collaboration and promoting the exchange of knowledge on modern people management practices.
The delegation also interacted with MainPower employees, particularly personnel in administration and operations, where they highlighted the importance of professional human resource management and encouraged qualified staff to join the Institute to benefit from its career development programmes.
On behalf of MainPower’s management, Dr. Mupwaya commended CIPM for its enduring contributions to advancing professionalism, ethical standards and excellence in human resource management across Nigeria.
