FRSC confirms three people injured after an LNG tanker fire in Kaduna, with emergency responders swiftly containing the blaze and restoring traffic flow.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that three persons were injured following a fire outbreak involving a fully loaded Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker in Kaduna State.

The incident occurred at the Kwangila area in Zaria Local Government Area when the tanker, owned by Greenville Company, caught fire after a gas valve malfunction.

Sector Commander of the FRSC in Kaduna State, Mr. Andrew Longkam, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the tanker had been parked by the roadside along the Funtua-Zaria road before the incident.

According to him, the resulting fire spread to nearby shops and left three adult males with varying degrees of burn injuries.

“The injured victims were promptly evacuated to Nakowa Hospital at Yangoro for initial treatment and later referred to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika, for further medical care,” he said.

Longkam added that emergency responders acted swiftly to contain the fire, although it briefly reignited before being completely extinguished.

He noted that traffic was temporarily diverted to the opposite lane to prevent further accidents, adding that normal traffic flow has since been restored.

Efforts are ongoing to evacuate the damaged tanker and ensure complete clearance of the road.

The FRSC advised motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area and to cooperate with traffic management officials and security agencies.

The corps also commended the prompt response of emergency teams involved in managing the situation, while expressing sympathy to the injured victims and wishing them a speedy recovery.
