Business strategist Niyi Adesanya has urged young entrepreneurs to prioritise reputation, relationships and sustainable business practices over quick profits, saying credibility and trust can create opportunities for long-term business success.
Business and performance strategist Niyi Adesanya has advised young entrepreneurs to prioritise building a strong reputation and sustainable businesses rather than pursuing quick financial gains.
Adesanya gave the advice on Wednesday at the 2026 Amadeo Business Summit 5.0 in Enugu, where he spoke on the importance of credibility, relationships and long-term thinking in entrepreneurship.
He said profitability alone does not guarantee the survival or success of a business, describing reputation as one of the most valuable assets an entrepreneur can develop.
According to him, business owners who focus exclusively on financial returns without investing in their values, relationships and public credibility may struggle to sustain their enterprises over time.
“Young people, who want to become successful entrepreneurs, should make reputation, relationships and sustainability central to their entrepreneurial journey rather than pursuing money as the sole measure of success,” he said.
Adesanya’s remarks align with the theme of the five-day Amadeo Business Summit 5.0, which runs from October 5 to 9 under the theme, “Sustaining Growth & Soaring.”
The business strategist stressed that an entrepreneur’s public image should reflect the actual values, standards and conduct of the individual or organisation.
He explained that perception often influences whether business owners attract partnerships, customers and other opportunities, even when they possess the technical competence required to succeed.
Adesanya therefore encouraged entrepreneurs to deliberately cultivate credibility and maintain productive relationships with customers, employees, colleagues, mentors and other stakeholders.
“Nobody gets to the top; everyone is brought to the top,” he said.
He explained that professional growth rarely happens in isolation, urging young business owners to identify people who can contribute positively to their development and build mutually beneficial relationships with them.
He also cautioned against treating business success solely as a financial achievement, arguing that trust and a good reputation can strengthen an entrepreneur’s long-term prospects.
Adesanya urged entrepreneurs to develop both technical expertise and interpersonal skills, noting that people-management abilities become increasingly important as businesses expand.
He said business owners must learn how to manage relationships, work effectively with others and create environments that support productivity and organisational growth.
According to him, entrepreneurs who want to build lasting enterprises must recognise that business growth requires more than a good product or the ability to generate revenue.
Strong leadership, effective communication, reliable processes and the ability to work with people are also essential to building organisations that can withstand changing market conditions.
The strategist also encouraged entrepreneurs to establish systems and processes that would enable their businesses to operate effectively beyond the involvement of their founders.
He said sustainable enterprises should be built around clear values, transferable knowledge and structures capable of supporting continuity across generations.
Adesanya urged young business owners to document procedures, develop competent teams and establish organisational practices that do not depend entirely on one individual.
He maintained that businesses focused only on immediate profits risk overlooking the structures needed to preserve their achievements over time.
He therefore encouraged entrepreneurs to pursue enterprises that are trusted, respected and capable of surviving changes in leadership.
The 2026 Amadeo Business Summit 5.0 brings together entrepreneurs, executives, business owners and aspiring business leaders for discussions, masterclasses, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
The event focuses on strategies for sustaining business growth, strengthening leadership and building enterprises capable of adapting to changing economic conditions.
Adesanya’s message reinforced the summit’s emphasis on long-term business development, encouraging entrepreneurs to measure success not only by the money they make but also by the trust they earn, the relationships they maintain and the institutions they build.
His central message was that while financial returns remain important, a strong reputation and sustainable business practices can help create the foundation for enduring success.
