The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement 2027 has suspended its activities indefinitely following the NAF 931 crash in Ondo State that killed all 25 people on board.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement 2027, a support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has suspended its activities indefinitely following the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The National Coordinator of the Movement, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, announced the decision in a statement on Wednesday, saying it was taken in solidarity with the Federal Government, the Nigerian Air Force, the bereaved families and Nigerians mourning the tragedy.
According to Asuku, the movement’s Grand Patron, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, directed the suspension.
The NAF ATR-42 aircraft, identified as NAF 931, crashed near a naval base in the Igbokoda area of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on October 5 while on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos.
The Nigerian Air Force later confirmed that 25 people—five crew members and 20 passengers—were aboard the aircraft and that no survivors had been found.
Asuku said the suspension would affect programmes scheduled to take place in Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.
He said it would be inappropriate for the group to proceed with political activities while the country was observing a period of mourning.
The coordinator said the decision was taken despite extensive preparations for the programmes, including fixed dates and arrangements made by supporters in the affected states.
He said standing with the country during the period of mourning was considered more important than proceeding with the scheduled engagements.
Asuku also conveyed Tompolo’s condolences to President Tinubu, the Nigerian Air Force, the families of those who died and Nigerians affected by the tragedy.
He described the crash as a painful reminder of the risks undertaken by members of the Armed Forces in the service of the country.
Asuku apologised to members, supporters and stakeholders who had prepared for the suspended programmes and assured them that the movement had not abandoned its planned engagements.
He said a new timetable would be developed after a review of the situation, with members and supporters to be informed through the appropriate channels.
The coordinator urged members to remain calm and patient and called on Nigerians to continue praying for the bereaved families, the Armed Forces and the country.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement said it remained committed to its objectives and nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
