President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muhammed Bello Bala Shagari on his election as Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organisation (NAMYO) for the 2026–2029 term.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, the President described Shagari’s election as a significant achievement for Nigeria and recognition of his involvement in youth development and international engagement.
Shagari previously served as Vice Chairperson of NAMYO for Africa and is the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
According to the President, Shagari’s new position presents an opportunity to advance cooperation among young people, promote peace and sustainable development, and advance the interests of the Global South.
Tinubu said the Federal Government remained committed to expanding opportunities for Nigerian youths to participate in national development and assume leadership responsibilities at both domestic and international levels.
He said the administration would continue to support initiatives focused on skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation, education and sustainable development, as well as greater youth participation in public and international affairs.
The President urged Shagari to uphold the principles of service, inclusiveness and mutual respect during his tenure.
Tinubu wished him a successful tenure and assured him of the Federal Government’s support as he takes up the NAMYO leadership position.
