The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing in Enugu State has unanimously endorsed the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa, for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was announced during the maiden executive meeting of the NDC Youth Wing held in Enugu on Saturday.

Speaking at the meeting, the State Youth Coordinator, Mr. Jideofor Ude, described Ohaa as an accomplished public servant with a distinguished record of service at both the state and national levels.

Ude noted that Ohaa had served as the Accountant General of Enugu State, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Pro-Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), among other public offices.

He urged members of the party to unite behind all NDC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with particular emphasis on supporting Ohaa’s governorship ambition.

The meeting was attended by the NDC State Chairman, Mr. Ibuchukwu Obetta, and the 17 Local Government Coordinators of the party’s Youth Wing.

Ude commended Obetta for what he described as his strategic leadership and commitment to strengthening the party in Enugu State.

He reaffirmed the Youth Wing’s commitment to working closely with the state leadership to expand the party’s grassroots structures and advance its political objectives across the state.

Speaking on preparations for the 2027 elections, Ude said the Youth Wing would commence mobilisation activities in line with the timetable to be released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He also encouraged all NDC candidates to collaborate with the Youth Wing to promote grassroots mobilisation and increase youth participation in the electoral process.

The youth coordinator tasked the 17 Local Government Coordinators with implementing party programmes effectively at the grassroots to ensure greater youth engagement and representation.

He further invited members to submit policy ideas and recommendations ahead of the forthcoming NDC Youth Leadership Summit, where the Youth Wing plans to unveil key initiatives and programmes for the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, the NDC State Chairman, Mr. Ibuchukwu Obetta, praised the Youth Wing for its commitment and proactive involvement in party activities.

Obetta pledged continued support for the youth leadership and addressed the ongoing leadership dispute within the state chapter, stating that he was pursuing legal avenues to resolve the matter.

He maintained that he remained the duly recognised Chairman of the NDC in Enugu State as acknowledged by the party’s national leadership and urged members to remain united and focused as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
