The Kano State Hisbah Board has released the timetable for the 2026 state-sponsored mass wedding programme, with activities scheduled from August 3 to August 9, including pre-marital training, wedding ceremonies and receptions across the state.

The Deputy Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahiddeen Aminuddeen, announced the schedule while briefing journalists in Kano.
According to Aminuddeen, the week-long programme will commence on Monday, August 3, with the distribution of wedding attire to all successfully screened couples.
He explained that beneficiaries from the 44 local government areas would collect their wedding attire from Hisbah offices in their respective councils upon presenting their screening tickets. Couples residing within the Kano metropolitan area are to receive their attire at the Kano State Hisbah Board Headquarters from 10:00 a.m.
As part of the programme, a pre-marital seminar will be held on Thursday, August 6, at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.
The seminar will educate participating couples on marital responsibilities in line with Islamic teachings while also providing training in small-scale business management to equip them with entrepreneurial skills and encourage self-reliance after marriage.
Aminuddeen disclosed that the wedding solemnisation (Fatiha) for couples from the Rano, Gaya and Karaye Emirates will take place on Saturday, August 8, under the supervision of their respective Emirs.
He added that the date for the wedding ceremony involving couples from the Kano Emirate would be announced after the completion of a final screening exercise at the Hisbah Board Headquarters.
Following the wedding ceremonies, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will host a special reception for the newly married couples at the Government House.
According to the deputy commander-general, furniture, household utensils and other items provided under the state government’s mass wedding programme will be displayed during the reception before being distributed to beneficiaries.
Governor Yusuf is also expected to address the couples, while beneficiaries from previous editions of the programme will share their experiences to highlight the impact and success of the initiative.
The week-long activities will conclude on Sunday, August 9, with receptions organised by each of the 44 local government areas to celebrate their newly married couples.
The Kano State Government has consistently sponsored annual mass wedding programmes as part of its efforts to support less-privileged couples, strengthen family values and promote social welfare across the state.
