Enugu is hosting the 17th National Council on Industry, Trade, and Investment, bringing together policymakers, investors and industry leaders to drive inclusive economic growth and strengthen Nigeria’s global market competitiveness.
Enugu State is set to host the 17th National Council on Industry, Trade, and Investment (NCITI), with the five-day event commencing on Monday in the state capital.
Themed “Enhancing Competitiveness in Industry, Trade, and Investment for Inclusive Growth and Global Market Integration,” the council will bring together nearly 1,000 participants, including policymakers, investors, business leaders and industrial experts, to deliberate on strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s industrial and economic future.
The event will feature the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Minister of State for the Ministry, Senator John Owan Enoh, while Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State will deliver the keynote address during the executive session.
Participants are expected from across the country, including Commissioners for Trade, Commerce, Industry and Investment from all 36 states, foreign trade and investment delegates, as well as heads of key federal and state government agencies.
The council will focus on critical areas shaping Nigeria’s economic development through sub-themes such as Industrial Competitiveness and Productivity Enhancement, Trade Facilitation and Market Access Strategies, Digital Transformation and Innovation in Industry and Trade, Regional and Global Market Integration Opportunities, and Public-Private Partnership for Sustainable Industrial Growth.
Hosting the council further reinforces Enugu’s growing reputation as a leading destination for major national conferences and investment-driven events under the administration of Governor Peter Mbah.
The state’s emergence as a preferred host for high-profile gatherings has been driven by sustained investments in security, tourism and transport infrastructure, including the establishment of Enugu Air, which now operates multiple daily flights connecting Enugu with major destinations across Nigeria.
