Directed by Isaac John, the upcoming film “Fortitude” explores the intersection of talent and survival, following a young woman’s desperate quest to fund her mother’s cancer treatment through a high-stakes competition.

“Fortitude,” a compelling new Nollywood drama aimed at inspiring talent discovery and resilience among Nigeria’s youth, is scheduled to premiere on YouTube on May 23, 2026. The announcement was made by the film’s director, Isaac John, during an interview in Abuja on Tuesday.

Produced by Creative Path Productions and filmed entirely on location within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the movie tells the emotional story of Anabel, a talented young woman played by Temitope Favour.

Faced with the daunting reality of her mother’s stage-three cancer diagnosis, Anabel enters an intense movie-making competition in a high-stakes bid to win the funds necessary for life-saving medical treatment.

Director Isaac John emphasized that beyond the drama, the film serves as a motivational tool for the younger generation.

“The message in the movie is to encourage young people not to give up on their talent and dreams,” John stated. “Anabel was able to raise money through her gift and determination. Although she later lost her mum, she won a significant prize that allowed her to build a stable life for herself and her siblings.”

Cast and Distribution

The production features a blend of established actors and rising stars, including:

  • Temitope Favour (as Anabel)
  • Raphael Gabriel
  • Alex Okpe
  • Solomon Danjuma
  • Mercy Attah

The film will skip traditional cinema runs for a digital-first approach, launching directly on the official YouTube channel of Creative Path Productions. The director noted that this strategy aims to make the film’s message accessible to a wider, global audience of young Nigerians and film enthusiasts.

As the May 23 premiere date approaches, “Fortitude” is already generating buzz for its realistic portrayal of the Nigerian creative struggle and its focus on family sacrifice and the transformative power of the arts.
