The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Kolade Eluyera in Ikire, following a violent early-morning attack by suspected gunmen that has sparked a localized manhunt.
The Osun State Police Command confirmed on Saturday the tragic killing of an individual identified as Kolade Eluyera by suspected gunmen in the Ikire community, located within the Irewole Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, has prompted immediate security measures as authorities move to stabilize the area.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the development during an interview with journalists, disclosing that the victim’s body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. According to Ojelabi, the case was formally reported at the Ikire Divisional Police Headquarters shortly after the discovery.
“From available information, the deceased was killed in the early hours of today,” Ojelabi stated. “We have commenced a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing and are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible.”
The PPRO emphasized that the command is committed to ensuring justice for the deceased and his family. He further assured residents of Ikire and the wider Osun State that the police would intensify patrols and intelligence gathering to prevent future occurrences and bring the perpetrators to book.
While no arrests have been made as of Saturday evening, the police have urged members of the public with relevant information regarding the attack to come forward.
