Nigerian Army troops have recovered stolen crude oil and diesel worth N250 million across the Niger Delta during a 25-day anti-oil theft operation.
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered about 156,000 litres of stolen petroleum products valued at N250 million during operations across the Niger Delta.
The 25-day exercise was carried out by the 6 Division in collaboration with other security agencies targeting oil theft and illegal refining activities.
Spokesman for the division, Lt.-Col. Danjuma Danjuma, disclosed the development on April 26, 2026, in Port Harcourt.
According to him, troops recovered more than 130,000 litres of crude oil and 26,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) during the operations.
He added that 10 illegal refining sites were dismantled, equipment destroyed, and nine suspected oil thieves apprehended.
Danjuma said the total value of the recovered crude oil and diesel is estimated at N250 million.
Providing details of the operation, he stated that in Rivers State, troops intercepted an abandoned truck loaded with stolen crude oil along the East-West Road in Ahoada.
Another storage reservoir containing over 26,000 litres of adulterated diesel was also discovered, alongside equipment allegedly used for siphoning petroleum products.
In Ebocha, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, troops confiscated 266 sacks filled with crude oil.
Additional discoveries were reportedly made in Abessa Forest and Abua/Odual Local Government Area, where several sacks and illegal refining equipment were destroyed.
In Delta State, troops uncovered a tapping point and storage pit containing crude oil in Ethiope Local Government Area.
Danjuma further said that in Akwa Ibom State, 45 bags containing illegally refined diesel were recovered after suspects fled the scene.
The spokesman quoted the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Emekah, as commending troops for their resilience.
He also urged security personnel to sustain the offensive against economic sabotage and illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta.
