A major power outage affecting Oji River, Achi, and surrounding communities has been traced to a breaker fault at a transmission station, disrupting electricity supply across multiple areas.
ENUGU, Nigeria – MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited has attributed the prolonged power outage affecting Oji River, Achi, and surrounding communities to a breaker fault at the Oji River Transmission Station operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
The fault has disrupted supply to the Achi 33kV feeder, cutting off electricity to several towns and villages within the affected network.
Communities impacted include Ahani, Amaetiti, Ofia N’Oji, Obodoukwu, Achi Girls, Achi Joint, Ekegbo, Mmaku, Awa, Mgbidi, Ogugu, Eziama Afam, and multiple locations across Inyi and Akpugoeze, among others.
According to MEDL, technical teams from TCN are currently working to replace the faulty breaker and restore normal operations.
The distribution company said it is collaborating closely with TCN to ensure that electricity supply is reinstated as quickly as possible once repairs are completed.
The outage has significantly affected residential and commercial activities across the impacted communities, highlighting ongoing infrastructure challenges within the power sector.
MEDL apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience, assuring customers of its commitment to improved and reliable electricity service delivery.
