Police in Kano confirm the abduction of Kibiya LGA Secretary, Hamza Durya, as anti-kidnap squad launches rescue operation.
The Nigeria Police Force in Kano State has confirmed the abduction of Alhaji Hamza Durya, Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, by gunmen.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, disclosed this in a telephone interview with journalists on Saturday.
Bakori said the victim was kidnapped at his residence in Durya village. He noted that the command had immediately activated a rescue operation following the incident.
According to him, the anti-kidnap squad, area commander, and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) have been fully mobilised to ensure the safe rescue of the victim.
The commissioner assured that all necessary measures were being taken to track down the abductors and secure Durya’s release.
He also appealed to residents, particularly those in rural communities, to provide credible information that could assist security operatives in the ongoing rescue effort.
Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted official and maintaining security across the state.
