Governor Umo Eno says Akwa Ibom is advancing reforms in the power sector and pushing forward investment talks on the Ibom Deep Seaport.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reforms and investments in the power and maritime sectors to boost the state’s economy.

Eno spoke at the Victor Attah International Airport on Saturday after returning from the United Kingdom, where he accompanied Bola Tinubu on a state visit.

The governor said the trip provided an opportunity to meet with investors, particularly in the power sector, expressing optimism about positive outcomes from the engagements. According to him, his administration has taken strategic steps toward transforming the power sector while advancing plans for the Ibom Deep Seaport.

“We expect something good from the interaction. It takes a lot of work, whether it is Ibom Deep Seaport or power, it takes a lot of work,” he said.

Eno said the state had completed payment for feasibility studies for the seaport project and was engaging investors to move it forward.

He urged residents to remain patient, noting that large infrastructure projects require due process and sustained engagement.

“I want the seaport like yesterday. I want power like yesterday. But we would like to go through these processes and I am sure we are doing it,” he said.

The governor also expressed concern over the current national power outage, reiterating his administration’s determination to improve electricity supply in the state.

He added that the state was making gradual progress in both the power and maritime sectors, with growing investor interest.

Eno assured that his administration remained focused on delivering the Ibom Deep Seaport and strengthening power infrastructure for economic growth.
