Police in Nasarawa State have detained a suspected kidnapper and recovered a rifle with live ammunition in Akwanga LGA.

The Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State has detained a suspected kidnapper and recovered a rifle in Akwanga Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, said operatives of Police Mobile Force 38 Akwanga acted on credible intelligence about a suspect seen with a firearm in the area.

He said the team swiftly deployed to the scene and apprehended the 32-year-old suspect.

According to Nansel, the suspect, who hails from Rugan Hassan in Adudu community of Awe Local Government Area, was found in possession of a rifle and four rounds of live ammunition.

The suspect and recovered items were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Nansel said the command had commenced efforts to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring safety across the state.

The police also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing operations against criminal elements.
