MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited has announced a 48-hour power interruption in parts of Enugu as it carries out major maintenance work at the Trans-Ekulu Injection Substation.

MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has announced plans to carry out major maintenance work this weekend at the Trans-Ekulu Injection Substation in Enugu to install a newly procured 11KV indoor switchgear panel.

The Head of Communications at MEDL, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to him, the maintenance exercise will last 48 hours, beginning 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, and ending Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Ezeh noted that the newly procured switchgear panel costs about ₦200 million and forms part of MEDL’s effort to improve network reliability and electricity supply stability.

He recalled that an explosion occurred in the control room of the Trans-Ekulu Injection Substation on January 21, 2026, at about 7:23 p.m., which necessitated the procurement and installation of the new equipment.

According to him, the company has also begun procuring additional equipment to replace other components identified across its network as part of its ongoing maintenance and network upgrade strategy.
