The Trump Narrative on Nigeria’s security has been described as harmful and misleading by the Yoruba Ronu Group, a sociopolitical organisation that cautioned that such rhetoric could undermine Nigeria’s recent security gains if not addressed.

The group’s Chairman, Prince Diran Iyantan, issued a statement on Monday in Akure, condemning U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments as “deliberately provocative” and designed to destabilise Nigeria for political and economic interests.

Iyantan described the Trump Narrative accusing Nigeria of “killing Christians” and threatening to invade the country as “reckless and deceitful,” stressing that the Federal Government has been confronting Boko Haram and other extremist groups with determination and sacrifice.

He explained that Nigeria’s fight against terrorism has protected citizens across all faiths, emphasizing that victims of extremist attacks include both Christians and Muslims.

“What Nigeria needs from the world is partnership, dialogue, and support, not intimidation or falsehood disguised as moral outrage,” Iyantan said.

He further accused Trump of twisting Nigeria’s internal security issues into a false narrative of religious persecution for political advantage.

“If Trump is truly concerned about Christians, why is he silent on the plight of believers in Syria, Ukraine, or Congo?” he asked, adding that the Trump Narrative reveals selective empathy driven by self-interest rather than genuine compassion.

Iyantan noted that the misinformation could damage Nigeria’s international reputation just as the country is making progress under President Bola Tinubu’s reform-driven administration.

He reaffirmed that Nigeria remains a secular nation built on mutual respect and religious tolerance since independence and urged citizens to remain united against external provocations.

“No foreign power should dictate our destiny,” Iyantan concluded. Visit GMTNewsng for more news
