ABA, September 12, 2025

Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State has assured residents that the Abia State Security Trust Fund will be transparently managed and fully accounted for under his administration.

He gave the assurance on Thursday during the Aba Stakeholders Security Trust Fund Luncheon held at the prestigious Aba Sports Club.

The governor emphasized that under his leadership, public funds are safe and properly managed, declaring that “money does not disappear” because he was raised to create wealth, not to steal it.

Otti underscored the critical role of security in every aspect of life, adding that he sometimes stays awake at night to ensure Abia residents can sleep peacefully.

He vowed that criminals terrorizing Abia will never escape justice under his watch, warning that “offenders are paying and will continue to pay dearly.”

The governor also expressed gratitude to contributors to the Security Trust Fund, offering prayers for their wellbeing and noting that their support will help sustain stability, peace, and growth in the state.

The Director-General of the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA), Mr. Uche Ukeje, described the luncheon as a reflection of the people’s collective resolve to secure Aba and unlock its full economic potential.

He explained that GADA has championed urban renewal, sanitation, and SME development in Aba, while fostering a business-friendly climate that inspired the luncheon initiative.

Chairman of the occasion, Chief Leonard Okoye, recalled how insecurity once forced him to live outside Aba, but noted that the city is now regaining peace and vibrancy.

Okoye commended Otti’s leadership in making Aba more habitable and enjoyable, pledging N50 million to the fund and urging others to rally behind the governor’s vision for a safer city.

Business mogul and owner of Crunchies Fast-Foods Ltd, Mr. Jude Nwosu, said security is a fundamental right of citizens and a major driver of Aba’s economic development.

He praised Otti’s massive road and infrastructure projects which, according to him, have limited criminal gangs that once operated from hard-to-reach hideouts.

Nwosu, who pledged N5 million to the fund, encouraged business owners and residents to contribute actively, stressing that “security is everyone’s shared responsibility.” GMTNewsng
