Christmas: Enugu ALGON Chairman, Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, Extends Warm Greetings to Ndi Enugu, Advocates for Service to Humanit
Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, the Enugu State Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, has extended warm Christmas greetings to the people of Nkanu East and the entire Enugu State.
In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu, Hon. Edeh called on Christians to seize the festive season as a time to pray for unity, peace, and prosperity in Nkanu East, Enugu State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Mr. Edeh, who also serves as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of ALGON, urged Christians to rededicate themselves to the service of humanity, aligning with the teachings of Jesus Christ, which emphasize tolerance, patience, brotherly kindness, care for the needy, and love for one another.
“The yuletide season offers us a unique opportunity to love, share, and forgive. I encourage Christians to use this period to pray for unity, peace, and prosperity in Nkanu East, Enugu State, and Nigeria at large. We must also recommit ourselves to virtues such as faith in God, honesty, love for one another, and peaceful coexistence. These virtues should guide our daily lives,” Edeh stated.
He further highlighted the essence of Christmas as a time for sacrificial giving and love, reflecting the ultimate sacrifice of God in giving His only Son for humanity. “Christmas is a period to show love and practice sacrificial giving. Christianity, at its core, is the expression of practical love for fellow man,” he added.
Mr. Edeh urged the good people of Nkanu East LGA to embody the teachings of Jesus Christ and strive to live in peace with one another. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering love, reconciliation, unity, and shared prosperity within Nkanu East.
“These noble principles will continue to guide us as we build a better society for our generation and those to come,” he assured.
