MTN Nigeria has gifted a newlywed couple, Mr and Mrs Uchechukwu Anugwo, the sum of ₦2 million during a surprise wedding held in Enugu State.

The presentation took place on Saturday at the Community Primary School, Ugwuaji, in Enugu South Local Government Area, as part of MTN’s nationwide YelloTide festive campaign.

The YelloTide campaign, launched by MTN in November, is a three-phase celebration designed to spread joy, kindness, and human connection across Nigeria during the 2025 festive season.

The initiative features community engagements, surprise giveaways, and shared social experiences aimed at fostering togetherness and creating memorable moments for Nigerians.

Speaking at the event, Mr Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Nigeria, said the surprise wedding gift reflects the company’s core value of connection and its commitment to positively impacting lives.

“It is MTN. We impact people’s lives, support and surprise them. We ensure connection between people; that’s what we do,” Okigbo said.

He explained that the couple was selected randomly, stressing that there were no predefined criteria and that the beneficiaries were unaware of the planned wedding surprise.

Responding on behalf of his family, Mr Anugwo, an Assistant Superintendent with the Federal Fire Service in Enugu, expressed deep gratitude to MTN Nigeria, describing the gesture as unexpected and uplifting.

He said he and his wife, Igwedima Dorin, were overwhelmed by the surprise, adding that the wedding gift felt “divine” and came at a time they least expected.

“I and my newlywed wife are impressed with what MTN did,” he said.
