Russian forces launched another wave of overnight missile strikes across Ukraine, hitting multiple regions including Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Zhytomyr, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Saturday.

Explosions were reported in several locations, including the capital, Kyiv, where Mayor Vitali Klitschko said multiple blasts were heard and air defence systems were actively responding to the missile threat.

Ukrainian media reported that hypersonic Kinzhal missiles were among the weapons deployed during the attack, with energy infrastructure believed to be a primary target. The full scale of damage and possible casualties was not immediately known.

Authorities said emergency services were assessing affected areas as air raid alerts were activated across large parts of the country during the missile assault.

Ukraine has continued to defend itself against Russia’s full-scale invasion, which began in February 2022, amid sustained missile and drone attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure.
