Tinubu Police Training Reform Rekindles Hope, Boosts Morale – CP Collins Commends Mbah-Led Committee
ENUGU, November 10, 2025 – The Commandant of the Police Detectives College, Enugu, Commissioner of Police (CP) Rosemary Collins, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his decisive Tinubu Police Training Reform initiative aimed at overhauling security training institutions across Nigeria.
Collins described the Tinubu Police Training Reform, chaired by the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, as a morale booster and a clear demonstration of the President’s commitment to the welfare and professional development of security personnel nationwide.
She made the remarks on Sunday during an on-the-spot inspection of the Nigeria Police Detectives College, Enugu, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Training Facility in Oji River, both visited by the Mbah-led presidential committee.
According to her, Tinubu Police Training Reform has rekindled hope and confidence among officers, signalling a new era of motivation and professionalism within the Nigerian security system.
“This initiative has rekindled our hope and strengthened our resolve to serve the nation with renewed passion and dedication. We are grateful to President Tinubu for remembering the security agencies and prioritising our welfare and training. We assure the nation that we will continue to give our best and will not disappoint,” the Commandant said.
Mbah Explains Tinubu’s Security Reform Drive
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Peter Mbah emphasized that President Tinubu’s decision to revamp and modernise the country’s security training institutions was part of his broader Tinubu Police Training Reform agenda designed to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture through improved training and working conditions.
He revealed that the Tinubu Police Training Reform committee, inaugurated by the President during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on October 23, was tasked with a nationwide assessment and overhaul of all training facilities belonging to the Nigeria Police Force and the NSCDC.
“This is an ongoing national mission personally instituted by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Tinubu,” Governor Mbah stated.
Governor Peter Mbah leads the southern inspection team of the Tinubu Police Training Reform at the NSCDC Training Centre, Oji River.
“The Committee was designed to oversee the complete overhaul of training institutions for both the Police and the Civil Defence Corps. We divided ourselves into two teams – one covering the North and another the South. I lead the southern team, and we have visited several centres, including the NSCDC facility here in Oji River,” he explained.
Governor Mbah lamented the deplorable condition of some of the facilities, describing them as grossly inadequate for training the men and women tasked with protecting lives and property.
He added that President Tinubu found the situation unacceptable and directed urgent action under the Tinubu Police Training Reform to renovate, re-equip, and restructure the institutions to align with global standards.
“The President believes that well-trained and motivated security personnel are essential to achieving peace and stability. This reform is therefore a critical step in ensuring that our officers have the environment, equipment, and expertise needed to meet modern security challenges,” Mbah added.
Police, NSCDC Officers Express Renewed Commitment
The Tinubu Police Training Reform initiative has been widely lauded by security officers who see it as a long-awaited step toward better working conditions and improved morale.
CP Collins and other officers who interacted with the committee expressed optimism that the government’s swift intervention would transform training standards and operational efficiency across Nigeria’s security agencies.
Governor Mbah’s leadership of the southern inspection team has been praised for its speed, transparency, and thoroughness – earning commendations from both the Police and the NSCDC.
The nationwide Tinubu Police Training Reform is part of a broader emergency response by the Federal Government to modernize Nigeria’s security institutions, enhance inter-agency coordination, and strengthen the country’s internal security framework.
