Over 8 Million Nigerians Complete INEC Pre-Online Registration – INEC
Abuja, Oct. 22, 2025 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than eight million Nigerians have successfully completed the INEC pre-online registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the update released by INEC in Abuja, over 1.7 million Nigerians have completed both their online pre-registration and physical biometric capture at designated registration centers across the country.
Imo, Lagos Lead in INEC Pre-Online Registration
The commission’s week-nine statistics reveal that out of the 8,003,196 total pre-online registrations, Imo State recorded the highest with 826,850 registrants (10.32%), followed by Lagos State with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun State with 510,062 (6.37%).
Yobe State had the lowest figure, recording only 2,714 registrants (0.03%), while the exercise in Anambra State was suspended in compliance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022 pending the November 8 Governorship Election. Read more –Â http://gmtnewsng.com
Youths and Women Dominate INEC Registration
INEC’s demographic data shows that women slightly outnumbered men in the INEC pre-online registration, with 4,190,890 females (52.37%) compared to 3,812,306 males (47.63%).
The youth population between 18 and 34 years made up the majority with 5,533,514 registrants (69.14%), followed by the middle-aged group (35–49 years) with 1,678,212 (20.97%), while the elderly (50–69 years) accounted for 704,866 (8.81%).
Students Lead Occupational Category in INEC Pre-Online Registration
Students topped the occupational chart with 2,018,967 (25.23%), while businesspersons followed closely with 1,659,690 (20.74%). Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) accounted for 182,718 (2.29%) of total online registrants.
Over 1.7 Million Complete Both Online and Physical Registration
INEC noted that the 1.7 million completed registrations represent citizens who concluded both INEC pre-online registration and physical biometric capture nationwide.
Of this figure, 956,566 completed their registration online, while 753,884 concluded it physically. The youth between 18 and 34 years again led participation with 1,261,288 (73.74%) of the total.
Gender data shows 945,305 females (55.27%) compared to 765,145 males (44.73%), while 24,207 PWDs (1.41%) completed registration.
Top States in Completed INEC Registration
Osun State recorded the highest number of completed registrations with 151,593, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 106,855, and Lagos State with 85,831. Other high-performing states include Imo (90,469), Kano (96,280), and Rivers (28,507).
INEC Reassures Data Integrity Ahead of 2025 Elections
The INEC reiterated that the final registration figures would undergo data clean-up using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to eliminate multiple or invalid entries.
It urged all eligible Nigerians who have not yet participated in the INEC pre-online registration to visit the official portals – https://cvr.inec.gov.ng or https://cvr.inecnigeria.org – or proceed to their nearest registration centers before the close of the ongoing CVR exercise.
