PDP BoT – The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the allegation of signature forgery leveled by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, describing it as baseless, misleading, and inconsistent with verified records.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 23, 2025, and signed by Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the PDP BoT, the party clarified that the letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the forthcoming 2025 Elective National Convention was duly signed by both Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, the PDP National Chairman, and Senator Anyanwu himself. According to Wabara, the signing took place on August 25, 2025, during the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) in the presence of key stakeholders, including members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, and other NEC members. PDP BoT
“The records are clear. The correspondence in question was duly signed by both the National Chairman and the National Secretary during the NEC meeting, which was fully witnessed by principal organs of the party,” Wabara emphasized. http://pdp.org.ng
He further revealed that Senator Anyanwu had subsequently been inaugurated as Secretary of the Contact and Mobilization Sub-Committee for the 2025 National Convention, where he co-signed several official letters alongside the Sub-Committee Chairman, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State. PDP BoT
“These include letters of appointment to sub-committee members and financial requests for meetings – all bearing Senator Anyanwu’s own signature and currently in the custody of the party and convention committees,” Wabara added.
The PDP BoT Chairman expressed dismay that Senator Anyanwu’s forgery claim appeared to be an attempt to mislead the public, discredit party leadership, and sow discord within the PDP, noting that such actions were contrary to the spirit of unity and transparency that the party upholds.
“The Board finds Senator Anyanwu’s allegation to be not only unfounded but also a regrettable effort to cast aspersions on the integrity of our leadership and processes,” Wabara said. “The PDP remains resolute, transparent, and cohesive in its commitment to democratic ideals and internal harmony.”
Reaffirming the party’s readiness for the 2025 Elective National Convention scheduled to hold November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Wabara assured members that the exercise would be credible, transparent, and unifying, reflecting the PDP’s long-standing tradition of internal democracy.
The BoT urged all party members, stakeholders, and supporters to disregard Anyanwu’s claims and continue to stand firm behind the leadership as the PDP charts a new course for Nigeria’s democratic renewal. http://gmtnewsng.com
