September 29, 2025 – A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp, Abuja, on Monday discharged a 25-year-old security guard, Sani Ibrahim, accused of stabbing a man during a phone-related dispute.
The police had charged Ibrahim, who resides in Galadima, Abuja, with causing hurt. However, Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo struck out the case after the complainant, Muhammad Mohammed, lost interest in pursuing it.
Prosecution Counsel Charity Nwachukwu informed the court that the complainant had withdrawn his complaint, prompting the magistrate to discharge Ibrahim.
“The defendant is hereby discharged, and the First Information Report (FIR) is withdrawn,” Jobbo ruled.
The case, reported at Karmo Police Station on July 4, alleged that Ibrahim borrowed the complainant’s cellphone but refused to return it. The complainant claimed Ibrahim stabbed him on the shoulder during the altercation.
The prosecutor had earlier stated that the alleged offence contravened Section 246 of the Penal Code. GMTNewsng
