In a significant cabinet reshuffle, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers while relieving five others of their duties, aiming to enhance the administration’s efficiency and fulfill his promises to Nigerians.
Among those newly appointed are:
- Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
- Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour & Employment
- Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
- Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment
- Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development
- Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
- Suwaiba Said Ahmad, PhD, Minister of State for Education
Those who have been relieved of their posts include:
- Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs
- Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism
- Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN OON, Minister of Education
- Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
- Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development
The Presidency stated that the reshuffle is designed to “reinvigorate the Administration’s capacity for optimal efficiency in pursuit of his commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.”
Political analyst Dr. Linda Adeyemi remarked, “This reshuffle signals a proactive approach by President Tinubu to address perceived shortcomings in his cabinet. It shows a willingness to adapt and make necessary changes for the betterment of governance.”
In response, civil society leader Emmanuel Okafor noted, “The inclusion of fresh talent is encouraging, but it remains to be seen how these new ministers will translate policy into action. The public will be watching closely.”
