The MYG Foundation has appealed for calm in Zamfara State over the omission of Accord Party governorship candidate Musa Yusuf-Garba from INEC’s list ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The MYG Foundation has appealed for calm among Accord Party stakeholders and supporters in Zamfara State following the omission of its governorship candidate, retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Musa Yusuf-Garba, from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The foundation said the omission had raised concerns among party members and other stakeholders, prompting it to submit a formal complaint to INEC for urgent investigation and correction.
The appeal was contained in a statement signed by the foundation’s Coordinator, Hamisu Sharu, and issued to journalists in Gusau on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Sharu described the omission as a serious concern for the people of Zamfara State and stakeholders in the democratic process.
He said the foundation had formally approached INEC, requesting the commission to address the omission of Yusuf-Garba’s name from its recently published list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
“The foundation expresses worry and deep concern over the omission of the name of the Accord Party governorship candidate from the INEC list ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
The foundation urged political stakeholders, Accord Party members and the general public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information and await an official response from the electoral commission.
It also called on INEC to urgently investigate the matter, verify the party’s records and submissions, and take appropriate corrective action in accordance with applicable electoral laws and requirements.
According to Sharu, the Accord Party has already submitted a letter to the commission requesting the necessary correction and inclusion of its governorship candidate’s name on the relevant official list.
He assured members, supporters and the public that the matter was being pursued through the appropriate official channels.
The foundation expressed optimism that INEC would address the complaint promptly and provide clarification on the omission.
The development comes as political parties and stakeholders prepare for the 2027 general elections, with the foundation urging restraint while the electoral commission considers the complaint.
