Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe has officially assumed office as the Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, promising a transformative era of inclusive, people-centred governance aimed at accelerating socio-economic growth across the council.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Ogbuekwe characterized the occasion as a “deeply humbling and significant moment,” extending gratitude to God, the residents of Nkanu East, and the political leaders who supported his candidacy.
In his maiden address, Chairman Ogbuekwe emphasized that electoral politicking must now yield to effective administrative service.
“The campaign is over. The mandate has been received, and now the real work begins,” Ogbuekwe asserted, pledging to convert his electoral promises into concrete infrastructural, social, and economic benefits for local communities.
The new chairman expressed deep appreciation to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, alongside the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for their foundational support throughout the election cycle.
Underlining his administration’s core philosophy, Ogbuekwe committed to maintaining open lines of communication with grassroots residents, traditional rulers, and key local stakeholders to ensure development efforts reflect genuine community priorities.
“I am ready to serve, listen to our people, and work with all stakeholders towards the progress and development of Nkanu East,” he declared, promising an accessible administration grounded in transparency and institutional accountability.
Rallying residents behind his developmental agenda, Ogbuekwe echoed the state’s progressive slogan, reaffirming his resolve to uplift the local government area: “Together, we move forward. Tomorrow Is Here!”
