Oluremi Tinubu has received a heartfelt 66th birthday tribute from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who praised her support, compassion and devotion to their family.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife and First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and reflecting on their years together.
In a deeply personal birthday message released on Monday, September 21, President Tinubu praised Oluremi for standing by him through difficult periods with what he described as patience, grace and courage.
The President referenced a Yoruba proverb, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning “a good wife is her husband’s crown,” and said his wife had given the sentiment meaning through her support throughout their life together.
He described Oluremi as someone who understands him deeply and provides counsel, including on occasions when he may not want to hear difficult truths.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” Tinubu said.
The President also praised the First Lady’s commitment to their family, saying their children and grandchildren had grown under the influence of her prayers, faith and values of kindness.
He highlighted her humanitarian activities, recalling her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative during his presidency.
According to Tinubu, her humanitarian efforts have reached young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across Nigeria. He also commended her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases.
The President said her compassion extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.
Reflecting on their shared journey, Tinubu recalled the difficult decisions and sacrifices they had experienced together, as well as the role of laughter and prayer in sustaining their family.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you,” he said, adding that his heart had remained at home with her throughout their journey.
Tinubu thanked the First Lady for the life they had built together and prayed that she would be blessed with many more years of good health and happiness.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi,” the President said.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu is Nigeria’s current First Lady. She previously served as First Lady of Lagos State and represented Lagos Central in the Senate from 2011 to 2023.
