Nkanu West stakeholders endorse John Ogbodo for a second term, citing roads, solar boreholes, Smart Green Schools access, security and other projects.

AGBANI, Enugu State — Stakeholders across the 14 electoral wards of Nkanu West Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed the Executive Chairman, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, for a second term, citing his administration’s development projects and interventions across the council.
The endorsement was made during the inauguration of the campaign organisation for the September 26, 2026 local government election, where political leaders, community representatives and other stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support for the chairman’s re-election.
The stakeholders said their decision was based on what they described as John Ogbodo ‘s performance beyond expectations, particularly in road infrastructure, water supply, education, public facilities, security and community development.
Asphalt Roads, Access to Smart Green Schools and Community Connectivity
Among the projects highlighted were several asphalt roads constructed across Nkanu West.
The stakeholders noted that the importance of the roads extends beyond improved transportation. By connecting communities, opening up previously difficult routes and improving access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services, the roads are helping to strengthen economic and social activities across the local government.
Particular emphasis was placed on roads providing access to the Smart Green Schools, which the stakeholders said would improve connectivity to the schools and support the delivery of quality education.
They argued that the projects reflect the administration’s commitment to making development more accessible to residents, while complementing the broader infrastructure and education initiatives of the Enugu State Government.
Solar-Powered Boreholes Across the 14 Wards
The stakeholders also cited the provision of numerous solar-powered boreholes in communities across the 14 electoral wards as a major achievement of the administration.
The interventions, they said, are helping to improve access to potable water and reduce the difficulties associated with water supply in communities.
They described the projects as practical investments in public health, household welfare and community development, particularly in areas where reliable water supply remains essential to daily life.
Motor Park Reconstruction, Modern Abattoir and Public Sanitation Facilities
Other projects highlighted as delivered by the John Ogbodo administration included the rebuilding of the motor park at Ozalla Junction, the construction of a modern abattoir at Eke Agbani, and the provision of modern public convenience facilities in the area.
The stakeholders said the projects demonstrate attention to both economic infrastructure and public sanitation, noting that improved transport facilities can support commercial activities, while a modern abattoir and better sanitation facilities can contribute to healthier and more orderly communities.
Agbani Sexual Assault Referral Centre: A Major Investment in Protection and Justice
The inauguration of a brand-new Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Agbani was also identified as one of the administration’s significant interventions.
The stakeholders said the centre represents an important investment in the protection of vulnerable persons and the response to sexual violence.
They noted that a dedicated referral centre can provide survivors with access to medical care, psychological support, counselling and other essential services in a more coordinated and confidential environment.
They further stressed that the facility can help improve the handling of sexual assault cases, strengthen referral pathways and support survivors in accessing appropriate assistance and justice.
The stakeholders described the centre as a project with a strong human impact, particularly because it addresses a sensitive issue that requires compassion, professional care and institutional support.
Strengthening Security Across Nkanu West
The stakeholders also commended John Ogbodo for his efforts to strengthen the security apparatus of Nkanu West Local Government Area.
They said the interventions reflect the importance of creating a safer environment for residents, businesses, farmers, traders and other members of the community.
According to them, security remains a critical foundation for development, as improved roads, schools, markets and other public facilities can only deliver their full benefits when residents are able to use them in a secure environment.

Why the Stakeholders Chose Continuity
The stakeholders said the projects, together with other interventions too numerous to list, informed their decision to endorse John Ogbodo for a second term.
They argued that the chairman’s performance provides a basis for continuity, particularly at a time when the people of Nkanu West are seeking to consolidate ongoing development and ensure that existing projects and initiatives continue to receive attention.
They also linked their decision to the development vision of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, saying that John Ogbodo’s administration has demonstrated an effort to emulate the governor’s approach to infrastructure, education, public services and community development at the local government level.
The stakeholders said they were encouraged by what they described as the governor’s development-oriented leadership and expressed their determination to support the continuation of that vision in Nkanu West.
Ogbodo Inaugurates Campaign Organisation
During the meeting, Hon. Ogbodo inaugurated his campaign organisation and announced the appointment of former deputy chairman of the LGA who served previously as the Chairman, Enugu Sports Club (1929) Hon. Onyeka Onwe as Director-General, Chief Moses Ani Emeka as Deputy Director-General, and Barr. Chidiebere Ani as Secretary.
Speaking at the event, John Ogbodo expressed appreciation to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the platform and opportunity to serve as Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government, as well as for the opportunity to seek another term in office.
He commended the governor for his development strides across Enugu State and assured him of Nkanu West’s continued support.
Ogbodo said the local government would reciprocate the governor’s goodwill and support his continued leadership come 2027.
Stakeholders Rally Support for September 26
Also speaking, Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, member representing Nkanu West Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, commended John Ogbodo for his performance in office.
He urged the people of Nkanu West to come out en masse on September 26 to support the chairman’s re-election, while calling on stakeholders to work together to support and deliver Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027.
The APC flag bearer for Nkanu West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnamani, assured Ogbodo of the maximum support of the people.
He appealed to party members and stakeholders to remain united and committed to delivering all APC candidates from top to bottom.
The APC State Women Leader, Mrs. Esther Edeh, also commended John Ogbodo for his numerous projects and contributions to the development of Nkanu West.
She assured the chairman of the support of the people ahead of the election and expressed appreciation to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the platform he has provided for Ndi Nkanu West and Enugu State.
In her remarks, Dr. Amaka Ngene, Chairman of State Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB), assured John Ogbodo of the continued support of Ndi Nkanu West, particularly the women.
Unanimous Endorsement for a Second Term
At the end of the meeting, stakeholders from across the 14 electoral wards unanimously endorsed the campaign organisation and pledged their commitment to working together for victory on September 26.
They expressed confidence that, just as they delivered victory during John Ogbodo ’s first tenure, they would once again mobilise across the local government to secure his re-election.
The meeting ended with a renewed call for unity, mobilisation and continuity, as stakeholders reaffirmed their readiness to support Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo for another term in office.
For the stakeholders, the message was clear: Nkanu West United for Continuity under John Ogbodo.
