The Odenigbo socio-cultural institution has reaffirmed its support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, led political leaders on solidarity visits across Nkanu communities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The foremost socio-cultural umbrella body of one of the two major families that make up Nkanu land, Odenigbo, has reaffirmed its support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came on Sunday as the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Council, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, led a high-powered delegation of political leaders and stakeholders on solidarity and consultative visits to Odenigbo leaders in Umuani Ubureke, Ndiuno Uwani Akpugo, a constituent community within the Akpugo Odenigbo, and later to Ugwuomu Nike.

The visits brought together traditional rulers, Presidents-General, community leaders, women, youths and party stakeholders, who pledged continued support for Governor Mbah, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji and other APC candidates.

The delegation included Senator Kelvin Chukwu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Victor Eneh; the APC candidate for Nkanu West State Constituency, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Nnamani; the member representing Enugu East Rural State Constituency, Hon. At Umuani Ubureke in Akpugo Ward 5, the delegation received a warm welcome from Odenigbo leaders and members of the host communities.

Speaking on behalf of the communities, the President-General of Ndiuno Uwani, Chief Moses Ani Emeka, and the President-General of Ndiagu Uwani, Mr. Osy Sam Ede, commended Hon. Ogbodo for sustaining grassroots consultations and strengthening unity among communities across Nkanu land.

The community leaders also praised Governor Mbah for what they described as unprecedented recognition of the Odenigbo institution and for implementing transformational projects across Enugu State without discrimination.

According to them, no previous administration had accorded the Odenigbo institution the level of recognition, inclusiveness and partnership demonstrated by Governor Mbah.

They stated that the governor’s investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and economic development had earned him broad acceptance across the state and urged residents to support his re-election alongside Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Nnamani and other APC candidates.

Also addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Akpugo Ward 5, Mr. Eji Anthony, and the ward councillor, Mr. Sunday Aniachi, commended Hon. Ogbodo for promoting unity between Nkanu West and neighbouring communities.

They reaffirmed the commitment of Akpugo Ward 5 to Governor Mbah’s administration and pledged to mobilise support for APC candidates during the elections.

Representing Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Mr. Victor Eneh conveyed the senator’s appreciation for the warm reception and described Governor Mbah as a unifying leader whose administration has promoted peace, inclusion and balanced development across Enugu State.

He urged residents to remain steadfast in their support for the governor’s vision.

In his remarks, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Nnamani described Hon. Ogbodo as a humble and visionary leader committed to purposeful governance in Nkanu West.

He said Governor Mbah’s administration was transforming Enugu State through strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and economic development, urging the people to sustain their support for the APC.

The delegation later visited Ugwuomu Nike, where Odenigbo leaders, traditional stakeholders and party faithful also declared their support.

Hon. Raymond Ugwu commended Hon. Ogbodo for extending the consultations across Odenigbo communities, describing the engagements as vital to strengthening political cooperation and unity throughout Enugu East Senatorial District.

Dr. Felix Nnamani also praised the Nkanu West chairman for fostering harmony among communities, noting that Governor Mbah’s administration has remained inclusive and equitable in the execution of development projects across the state.

He urged residents to continue supporting the administration to consolidate the gains already achieved.

Responding, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo thanked the Odenigbo leaders and the people of Ugwuomu Nike for their warm reception and unwavering support.

He described Governor Mbah as a bridge-builder whose inclusive style of governance continues to unite communities while delivering people-centred development across Enugu State.

Ogbodo assured the gathering that the administration would continue to implement projects that improve the lives of residents irrespective of political affiliation or geographical location.

He also called on the people to remain committed to peace, unity and collective development by supporting Governor Peter Mbah, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Hon. Raymond Ugwu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The solidarity visits ended with unanimous endorsements by traditional leaders, Presidents-General, Odenigbo leaders, women, youths and political stakeholders, who pledged to mobilise overwhelming support for Governor Mbah’s re-election, the return of Senator Kelvin Chukwu, the re-election of Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji as the member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, and the victory of other APC candidates.

The consultations further underscored the role of the Odenigbo institution as a unifying force within Nkanu land while highlighting growing grassroots support for Governor Mbah’s development agenda and continued collaboration between government and traditional socio-cultural institutions.
