Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has expressed gratitude over the safe rescue of kidnapped schoolchildren, commending security personnel while calling for stronger measures to protect children and improve national security.
Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed joy over the safe rescue of kidnapped schoolchildren, describing their return as a development worthy of thanksgiving.
In a statement released on Saturday, Obi thanked security personnel and all those who worked behind the scenes to secure the children’s freedom, praising their dedication and commitment.
“I am greatly relieved and delighted to learn of the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped. I sincerely thank all those whose tireless efforts made their freedom possible, especially the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he said.
While celebrating the successful rescue, Obi stressed that no child should be subjected to the trauma of abduction, warning that the recurring kidnapping of schoolchildren highlights the urgent need to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
He urged government at all levels to prioritise the protection of lives and property, describing it as the foremost responsibility of leadership.
According to Obi, every child deserves to receive an education in a safe and secure environment without fear of violence or kidnapping.
“We must continue to work towards building a Nigeria where every child can pursue education without the threat of violence or abduction,” he stated.
The former governor also rejoiced with the rescued children, their families, their schools and Nigerians, describing the successful operation as a heartening development for the country.
Obi concluded his message with his familiar expression of hope, saying, “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
