Formally accepting the ruling party’s presidential nomination in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu positions his re-election bid as a vital crusade for policy consolidation and structural reform.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally accepted the nomination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stand as its presidential flagbearer for the upcoming 2027 general election.

Delivering his acceptance speech at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the President expressed immense humility and profound gratitude to the party’s leadership, progressive governors, and the grassroots base for their unwavering confidence.

Reflecting on his political journey since emerging as the candidate at Eagle Square four years prior alongside his predecessor, the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Tinubu noted that while the initial mandate was to chart a new direction, the immediate task ahead centers on critical policy consolidation. He emphasized that maintaining administrative continuity is absolutely essential to locking in the sweeping structural, fiscal, and institutional reforms his administration has courageously introduced to build a highly modernized Nigeria.

Reviewing the landmark milestones achieved during his first three years in office, the President proudly reeled out tangible successes across various sectors, demonstrating that his targeted economic reforms are actively yielding results.

In education, he highlighted the successful operationalization of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has disbursed over ₦282 billion to more than 1.5 million youth beneficiaries, successfully removing financial barriers to higher learning.

Addressing the energy sector, Tinubu showcased the Presidential Metering Initiative, which has systematically supplied 2.5 million meters to eliminate estimated billing, backed by a monumental ₦4 trillion bond program designed to clear legacy debts owed to GENCOs and GASCOs, pushing grid generation to peak milestones of 6,000MW.

He maintained that despite global inflationary pressures sparked by geopolitical crises in the Middle East, the deliberate shift away from wasteful fuel subsidies and unstable exchange rates has cleared the path for macroeconomic stability, resulting in a strengthening Naira, rising foreign reserves, and massive fresh investments in a revived oil and gas sector.

“Our mission remains clear: To build a Nigeria where every life, including property, is secure, where enterprise thrives, where workers earn with dignity, where young people find opportunity, and where farmers prosper.”

While acknowledging that many citizens are still actively navigating the difficult realities of economic adjustments and rising living costs, the President assured the nation that his government does not govern in comfort but in reality, pledging unyielding action to safeguard lives and property.

He revealed that massive investments in intelligence, modern defense hardware, and infrastructure-including long-lasting concrete superhighways along the coast and the Sokoto-Badagry route-are being aggressively sustained.

Furthermore, Tinubu called on the National Assembly to pass critical constitutional amendments for the creation of State Police as a matter of national emergency to permanently restore absolute peace. Extending a warm hand of fellowship to political opponents and inviting them into constructive dialogue for nation-building, the President urged voters to reject political figures offering no clear alternative visions, framework, or developmental focus.

He concluded by pledging to run a highly inclusive administration over the next four years, focusing entirely on the complete consolidation of national infrastructure, industrialization, energy security, and democratic maturity.
