Political and community stakeholders across Kogi East Senatorial District have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo for major socio-economic development projects, including $2m ACReSAL erosion interventions, new university buildings, and critical rural road networks.
Political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders across the Kogi East Senatorial District have expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo for the massive influx of socio-economic and infrastructural development projects across the zone.
Speaking on Tuesday during a joint assessment tour conducted by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Communications Team, local leaders highlighted several high-impact state and federal interventions that have transformed rural economies, improved accessibility, and addressed long-standing environmental hazards.
In Ankpa Local Government Area, the inspection team assessed a flagship 12-kilometer internal road featuring a 24-kilometer double-sided drainage system executed by the Ododo administration.
Briefing newsmen at the site, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, disclosed that the project was implemented through the World Bank-assisted Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) program.
Highlighting Governor Ododo’s prompt release of counterpart funds, Engr. Oluwasegun revealed that the project—which combines land reclamation, channelization, and erosion control—has effectively freed up vital agricultural land while disbursing over $2 million in micro-loan components to local farming cooperatives to boost food security and eradicate rural poverty.
The developmental tour also extended to Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in Anyigba, where delegates inspected two major projects funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) under its 2024 interventions.
These include the newly constructed College of Health Sciences building, executed at a cost of ₦643 million, and a modern Senate Building valued at ₦3.1 billion.
Additionally, the team inspected the ongoing construction of the 60-kilometer Iyale-Ogane-Enugu rural road in Dekina Local Government Area.
Speaking on the road’s economic significance, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Timothy Ojoma, noted that opening up the agrarian corridor will drastically reduce post-harvest losses, boost inter-community trade, and guarantee a seamless supply chain for local farmers across the state.
