Plateau Government imposes a 48-hour curfew in Jos-North LGA following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, as authorities move to restore order and prevent further violence.
The Plateau Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos-North Local Government Area following a deadly attack on the Angwan Rukuba community.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Joyce Ramnap, announced the curfew in a statement issued Monday in Jos, saying the measure was taken in collaboration with security agencies to restore calm.
According to Ramnap, the decision followed a Sunday night attack by gunmen which resulted in loss of lives and left several others injured.
“The Plateau Government, in conjunction with security agencies, has imposed a 48-hour curfew within Jos-North LGA,” she said.
She explained that the curfew would take effect from midnight of Sunday, March 29, and remain in force until Wednesday, April 1.
The commissioner condemned the attack, describing it as unprovoked and targeting innocent residents. She urged citizens to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperate with security personnel during the period of the restriction.
Ramnap further assured residents that the government, alongside security agencies, had activated measures to prevent further violence and ensure that those responsible for the attack are apprehended.
Authorities said the curfew is aimed at stabilizing the area, supporting security operations, and preventing escalation of tensions across Jos-North.
