Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have foiled attempted terrorist attacks and apprehended suspected collaborators in separate operations across Borno State.

An operational report indicated that troops of 25 Brigade successfully thwarted an attempted attack by fighters linked to Islamic State West Africa Province and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad on Damboa on Saturday.

The report stated that the terrorists were detected advancing from the Timbuktu Triangle axis and were engaged with artillery and mortar fire, forcing them to retreat.

Follow-up exploitation supported by air surveillance reportedly recorded no further contact with the insurgents.

In another operation, troops of 115 Battalion repelled an attack on their position at Mussa in Askira Uba Local Government Area after a fierce exchange of fire, maintaining control of the area.

The report further disclosed that a joint operation involving troops and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force led to the arrest of 14 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers at Gamboru Market and Customs Area in Maiduguri. Items recovered from the suspects included mobile phones and cash, while investigations are ongoing.

Similarly, troops of 25 Brigade and 19 Battalion arrested a suspected kidnapper at Azir in Damboa Local Government Area.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action in the North-East.
