Zamfara APC says preparations are complete to formally receive Governor Dauda Lawal following his defection, with Vice President Kashim Shettima representing President Tinubu.
The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has concluded arrangements to formally welcome Dauda Lawal into the party following his recent defection.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Gusau by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.
Lawal recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC.
According to the statement, the formal reception is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, and will be attended by President Bola Tinubu, who will be represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The party said Shettima would be accompanied by members of the APC National Executive Committee, immediate past governors of Zamfara and other key stakeholders.
It added that APC governors, members of the National Assembly and other party leaders from within and outside the state are also expected at the event.
The statement further noted that the party had strategised on mobilising supporters across the state to ensure a successful reception.
It added that various committees had been constituted to ensure a hitch-free programme.
The party appealed to members, supporters and well-wishers to turn out en masse to welcome the president’s delegation and formally receive the governor into the APC.
