Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel’s Mossad, amid rising tensions and ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Iran on March 18, 2026, executed a man accused of spying for Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, Mossad, as tensions continue to escalate across the Middle East.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the suspect was arrested in a rural area west of Tehran during a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June.

Authorities alleged that he provided images and sensitive intelligence on strategic locations to Mossad.

Iranian officials have since detained multiple individuals suspected of espionage following the June hostilities, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that more than 10 people have been executed.

Human rights organisations have repeatedly criticised Iran’s use of capital punishment, arguing that it is often used to suppress dissent.

The United Nations reports that more than 1,000 executions were carried out in Iran in the past year alone.

The execution comes amid heightened instability in the Middle East, marked by ongoing missile exchanges and airstrikes involving Iran and Israel.
