Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled an ISWAP attack in Mallam Fatori, killing over 60 terrorists and sustaining minimal casualties.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by ISWAP terrorists in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, neutralising no fewer than 60 insurgents.

According to a military operational report released on March 18, 2026, the terrorists launched the assault on the 68 Battalion, Mobile Defence Area on Tuesday evening.

The attack reportedly originated from the Duguri General Area, targeting the frontage of Bravo Company. The insurgents were said to be on foot and deployed armed drones during the offensive.

The Joint Task Force (JTF), supported by air assets, swiftly countered the attack, neutralising the drones and forcing the terrorists to retreat toward the Arege General Area.

Initial assessments indicate that over 60 terrorists were killed during the operation, while four soldiers sustained minor injuries.

The military said follow-up intelligence and surveillance missions are ongoing, with six suspected terrorist groups reportedly sighted moving toward Arege.

It added that further operations are being planned to consolidate gains and prevent additional attacks.

The JTF reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and sustaining pressure on terrorist networks across Borno and the wider North East region.

A video released by the task force showed the aftermath of the airstrike, highlighting the operational readiness and precision of troops involved in the mission.
