The Nigeria Police Council has unanimously ratified the appointment of Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
His swearing-in is scheduled for Wednesday during the meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House, Abuja, where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will formally administer the oath of office.
The council meeting was presided over by Tinubu and attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, state governors, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, in line with constitutional provisions.
Other top officials present included Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Disu’s appointment followed the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
