The Police Command in Niger State has arrested two suspects linked to separate stealing incidents in Minna and recovered stolen items worth more than ₦1 million.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force, Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun.

According to the statement, the first arrest was made on January 5, at about 12:50 p.m., following credible intelligence within the Chanchaga area of Minna that a resident entrusted with a shop had stolen a lister engine.

Police operatives attached to the Chanchaga Division promptly arrested the suspect. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted selling the stolen item.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the lister engine was subsequently recovered, while the suspect and the receiver of the stolen property were charged to court. Other items recovered from the suspect were valued at over ₦1 million.

In a related incident, Abiodun said the command received another report on January 12, at about 4:00 p.m., involving a motorcycle rider who robbed a passenger at Bosso Estate Junction.

He explained that the suspect, who falsely claimed to be a soldier, intimidated the passenger, a student, and forcefully conveyed him to an isolated area within the estate, where he stole his Infinix mobile phone.

The suspect was later arrested by the police, confessed to the crime, and has since been charged to court.

The Niger State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime across the state and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
