IMT Rector Prof. Gozie Ogbodo participated in ARCATU 2026 in Ghana, where academics and industry experts explored applied research, innovation and Artificial Intelligence.
The Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Prof. Gozie Sunday Ogbodo, participated in the 2nd Applied Research Conference of Accra Technical University (ARCATU 2026), held from September 16 to 18, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.
According to a press statement by the PRO of IMT, Mark Akunna Eze, the international conference was organised by Accra Technical University under the theme, “Applied Research and Innovation for Sustainable and Resilient Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).”
The conference brought together academics, researchers, industry professionals and students to examine emerging research, innovation and practical approaches to contemporary development challenges. Accra Technical University described ARCATU 2026 as an international, intercultural and interdisciplinary platform focused on translating applied research into practical solutions.
The 2026 edition featured three parallel conferences: the International Conference on Engineering, Science, and Urban Sustainability (ICESUS 2026); International Conference on Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship (ICSBE 2026); and International Conference on Applied Arts, Design, and Sustainability (ICAADS 2026).
Discussions at the conference focused on the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies on research, education, industry, entrepreneurship, urban development and sustainable development.
According to Eze, Prof. Ogbodo’s participation underscores IMT Enugu’s commitment to strengthening international academic collaborations, promoting research and innovation, and exposing the institution to global best practices in technical and higher education.
He said the Rector’s participation was also consistent with the “New IMT” vision of building an institution that is increasingly research-driven, innovation-oriented, globally connected and responsive to the changing demands of the 21st-century knowledge economy.
The conference provided participants with opportunities to exchange knowledge, present research findings, establish professional networks and explore collaborations aimed at advancing sustainable and resilient development through applied research and innovation.
Eze said Prof. Ogbodo, through his participation, reaffirmed the importance of positioning IMT Enugu to actively engage in global conversations on emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, and their implications for education, skills development, industry and society.
He added that the Institute would continue to pursue strategic partnerships and academic engagements aimed at strengthening research capacity, staff and student development, innovation, entrepreneurship and the international visibility of IMT Enugu.
Management of the Institute congratulated the Rector on his participation in ARCATU 2026 and reiterated its commitment to expanding IMT Enugu’s presence and partnerships within the global academic and research community.
