Kogi has recorded a tragic road crash along the Kabba-Odo-Ape Road, leaving six people dead and two others injured after a truck collided with a commercial vehicle.
Six people have been killed and two others injured in a road crash involving a truck and a commercial vehicle along the Kabba-Odo-Ape Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, according to the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lawal Fagge, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview on Sunday.
Fagge attributed the crash to speeding and warned motorists against dangerous driving practices, including excessive speed, unnecessary overtaking and driving while fatigued.
“It is unfortunate that six persons lost their lives, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Fagge said.
Residents of Odo-Ape reportedly joined rescue efforts following the crash, helping to evacuate survivors from the wreckage before they received further medical attention.
The FRSC sector commander urged motorists to exercise greater caution on the road, stressing that compliance with basic safety measures was essential to preventing crashes and reducing fatalities.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Kabba.
The incident adds to concerns over road safety and the need for motorists to observe speed limits and avoid behaviours that could endanger other road users.
