Amotekun Corps has rescued a mother and her two children allegedly kidnapped in the Isinigbo/Osi area of Akure North, Ondo State, and arrested two suspected kidnappers.
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has rescued a mother and her two children allegedly abducted in the Isinigbo/Osi area of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The rescue followed a distress call received by the state commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, who said operatives arrived in the area within five minutes and engaged the suspected kidnappers in a brief confrontation before rescuing the victims.
Adeleye disclosed the development on Monday, August 24, 2026, while parading 10 suspects arrested for various alleged offences at the corps headquarters in Akure.
Two of the suspects were identified as Gambo, 27, and Murtala, 19. Reports said Gambo was arrested around Shasha, Akure, while allegedly negotiating ransom with the family of the rescued victims. Murtala was separately arrested in connection with an alleged attempt to kidnap the wife of his former employer in Molege, Owo.
According to Adeleye, Murtala allegedly gained access to the woman’s residence but the husband and other occupants woke up and raised the alarm. They subsequently mobilised Amotekun operatives and Fulani residents in the area, who helped cordon off the location and apprehend the suspect.
A locally made firearm was recovered from one of the suspects, while Adeleye said the suspect confessed to involvement in several kidnapping operations. The commander also said another suspect allegedly admitted to operating as a serial kidnapper in the Akure North axis.
The Amotekun commander particularly commended Fulani residents who assisted the security operatives in identifying the suspects, stressing that their cooperation helped prevent the criminal activities of individuals from being wrongly attributed to an entire community.
The remaining eight suspects paraded by the corps were arrested over various alleged offences, including motorcycle theft, robbery, church burglary and housebreaking.
Adeleye said the recent operations had contributed to what he described as a significant decline in criminal activities across Ondo State.
He assured residents that security agencies would sustain patrols and intelligence-driven operations to protect lives and property and enable residents to carry out their daily activities without fear.
The latest operation adds to ongoing security efforts by Amotekun and other agencies in Ondo State as authorities intensify measures against kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
