Former Senate President Ken Nnamani and National Assembly members celebrate Governor Peter Mbah as Enugu State ranks first on the 2026 Phillips Consulting Momentum Index.
Former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, alongside the Enugu State Caucus of the National Assembly, has issued high praise for Governor Peter Mbah following Enugu State’s emergence as the fastest-improving state in Nigeria.
The national recognition comes courtesy of the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index, which highlighted the state’s rapid economic expansion and administrative efficiency.
Speaking from his country home in Amechi Uwani, located in the Enugu South Local Government Area, Senator Nnamani declared that the administration’s drive toward comprehensive transformation has positioned Governor Mbah as the premier benchmark for sub-national governance across the country.
The elder statesman noted that the latest ranking did not arrive as a surprise to residents, emphasizing that modern conversations regarding exemplary governance in Nigeria inevitably lead back to Enugu State.
Senator Nnamani highlighted that over the past three years, the administration has successfully overhauled critical sectors including security, healthcare, basic and tertiary education, agriculture, transportation, tourism, and general public infrastructure.
He observed that Governor Mbah has delivered tangible results that surpass the achievements recorded across prior eight-year tenures, thereby justifying the widespread endorsements for his second term across all three senatorial districts of the state.
Concurrently, the Enugu State Caucus of the National Assembly extended its formal congratulations in an official statement signed by former Senate Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu.
The caucus asserted that the performance index reflects genuine development on the ground and validates the administration’s strategic objective to expand the state economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.
Lawmakers emphasized that heavy public investments in socioeconomic infrastructure have successfully restored Enugu as a prime hub for commerce, tourism, and residency, while pledging their continued support to maintain the state’s upward trajectory.
The national intelligence report by Phillips Consulting Limited evaluated performance across thirty-three Nigerian states using key metrics such as citizen satisfaction, internally generated revenue growth relative to federal allocations, debt sustainability, and fiscal transparency.
Enugu State secured the top position on the Momentum Index with a score of +1.55 out of a 3.0 benchmark, outperforming other fast-improving states including Jigawa (+0.77), Abia (+0.67), Osun (+0.65), and Kano (+0.46).
Analysts attributed Enugu’s dominant ranking to strong fiscal discipline, deliberate policy execution, and sustained structural reforms that yield measurable public benefits within record timelines.
